Water Tank Inspections: Internal, External and Remote Capture

Tank inspection planning should separate external condition, internal visible condition and material testing. Each answers a different question, and the access or isolation requirements should be agreed before mobilisation.

Separate visible condition from material condition

High-resolution imagery records visible defects and coating condition. Remaining wall thickness or subsurface concerns require an appropriate testing method and should not be inferred from imagery alone.

Resolve access and operational constraints

Remote internal capture may reduce personnel entry, but asset geometry, cleanliness, contents and operational controls determine suitability. The scope should record those constraints rather than promise a universal method.
