Roof surface area — not just the building footprint — determines how long a roof inspection takes, how many images a drone survey captures and how maintenance quantities (coatings, sheeting, fasteners, membranes) are estimated. A 30° pitched roof has roughly 15% more surface area than its footprint; steep heritage roofs can exceed 40% more. Getting the true area right up front produces accurate inspection scopes and defensible maintenance budgets.
Drone roof surveys capture complete high-resolution coverage of metal, membrane and tiled roofs without anyone stepping on fragile sheeting or working at heights. Thermal imaging locates trapped moisture and insulation defects invisible to the eye.
